PHILIPPO
Conceptual Abstraction
Conceptual Abstraction reaches its culmination in Philippo's informal art, where the title of the artwork expresses, abstractly, the concept depicted in the painting or sculpture.
The style was conceived by the artist himself while transitioning from a figurative approach, where he expressed himself by erasing graphite with an eraser to reveal the figures he saw on the sheet, to informal art using geometric shapes, called "elements," invented by him. These were placed on different poured backgrounds, from which, to add movement, brushstrokes emerged, temporarily abandoning the geometric elements, also seen as open doors to the unconscious.
